Faculty Governance, Meeting Schedule and Committee Information
The University of Kansas was established by the citizens of the State of Kansas to provide a distinguished institution of higher learning for its people and has established a reputation for excellence in academics, research and service to the people of the state. This excellence and reputation of the University depend directly upon the quality of its faculty.
The dedicated academic and clinical faculty of the School participate actively in their own governance. The most fundamental policies and procedures of this system of governance are laid out in the School's Bylaws (see link at right)). As mandated by the Bylaws, faculty are represented by elected and appointed members of eight standing committees (see below)). These committees meet regularly and serve to address various school interests and needs, from faculty tenure and promotion to diversity concerns to committee oversight and elections.
