SAH Research Committee Policies and Procedures - 8/11/08
I. Membership
- Five elected members. Each member has a vote.
- Associate Dean of Research of the SAH as a non-voting member
- Ad hoc faculty member from the Department of Biostatistics as a consultant and non-voting member
II. Selection of Chairperson
- Shall be an elected member of the committee
- Shall have at least one year experience on the committee
- Shall be approved by a majority of the committee members
III. Functions of the Chairperson
- Be a representative to the Steering Committee of the SAH
- Be a representative to the Faculty Assembly Research Committee
- Be a voting member of the committee
- Call, prepare agendas for, reserve rooms, preside at, and record minutes of the SAH Research Committee meetings
- Make two reports a year to the SAH faculty
- Be knowledgeable of the SAH Bylaws
IV. Functions of the Committee
- Coordinate SAH research proposal solicitation, reviews, and recommendations for funding to the Dean of the SAH.
- Review SAH proposals for the KUMC shared equipment grant and select proposals to support for funding
- Support Faculty Assembly Research Committee activities
- Organize annual Research Day Presentations by SAH faculty that have received SAH grants
- Coordinate efforts with the Associate Dean of Research of the SAH
- Archive research awards and activities of the committee
V. Procedures of the Committee
- A quorum will be three of the five voting members
- Issues brought to a vote will be determined by a majority of committee members
