Scholarships for OT Students

Grace Bohannon Scholarship
Established in recognition of the importance of the occupational therapy profession in the field of health care. The Scholarship provides for two qualified and selected occupational therapy students to receive tuition assistance during the third and final year of study leading to the Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Kansas, School of Allied Health. The amount awarded per semester, limited to two semesters, will apply on the total tuition cost per student.

Eligibility requirements for the Grace Bohannon Scholarship are:

  1. full-time, third year student in the MOT program
  2. Kansas resident
  3. single and without children for each semester while receiving tuition assistance
  4. student must have a current Free Application for Federal Student Aid form on file in the KUMC Financial Aid Office.

Andy Thompson Student Award
Established by the family of Andy Thompson, who graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy degree. This award recognizes a deserving student with an interest in serving individuals with traumatic brain injury or psychiatric disabilities. This award is given to a graduating M.O.T. student.

Barbara Reber Umlauf Award
Awarded annually to full-time students in the MOT curriculum. Recipients must be members of the Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA), have participated in volunteer and work experiences, and have competitive grade point averages. These awards are for MOT students only and are decided upon by the Aids and Awards Committee.

Iowa Reciprocal Tuition Agreement
In order to expand student access to academic programming not available in these two respective states and to promote the efficient utilization of existing resources, the Kansas Board of Regents and the Iowa Board of Regents have established a reciprocal agreement for five Kansas residents desiring to study in the actuarial science program in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Iowa and for three Iowa residents desiring to study occupational therapy in the School of Allied Health at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Selected students will be charged in-state resident tuition. Eligibility will be determined on an annual basis.
