Eligibility and Requirements

Applications

The program starts fall semester in August and requires 10 months of study (24 credit hours).

 

To be considered for admission into KU's Dietetic Internship Graduate Certificate program, the following are required:

  1. Degree
    A bachelor’s degree from a didactic program in dietetics (DPD) accredited or approved by the ADA's Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) is required for admission. The degree must be from a regionally accredited U.S. university or college. Please note: the University of Kansas does not offer an accredited DPD. To view accredited programs see www.eatright.org.

    Degrees earned outside the United States must be evaluated for equivalency. For guidelines, see the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education “International Fact Sheet” at www.eatright.org.

  2. Graduate Record Examination Score
    A valid score on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test is required and a copy must be mailed directly to our office. Recommended scores for the sections of the GRE are 500 and above for Verbal and Quantitative, and 3.5 and above for Analytical Writing.   3. Grade Point Average
    A cumulative undergraduate grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for college course work is required for admission.

The Selection Process
The following criteria are considered when selecting individuals for admission to the dietetic internship program:

  • Academic performance
  • Graduate Record Examination scores
  • Letter of career and educational goals
  • References
  • Leadership
  • Work and volunteer experiences
  • Kansas residency
International Students
An applicant is considered an international student if they require a visa, or currently reside in the U.S. with non-immigrant status, or currently reside in the U.S. while applying for permanent residency. TOEFL scores and a completed affidavit of support are also required for international students.
